Famitsu accidentally outs new Medarot smartphone RPG, November 28th plans

In a since deleted article, Famitsu.com has revealed a new Medarot RPG is in development for smartphone platforms. According to Gematsu, it was given the following description:

Set in a near future where humans and robots co-exist, and said robots themed after insects and animals battle each other, the game will feature systems that allow the player gather robot parts and items, train, and trade to customize their robot to their liking.

The untitled project will be developed by SoWhat, a smartphone game development studio affiliated with Medarot copyright holder Imagineer. More information regarding the title will be shared in the future. SoWhat previously collaborated with the Medarot franchise in its LINE Akindo Sei no Little Peso smartphone game last year.

Reportedly, Famitsu shared more details regarding some of the future plans Imagineer has for the franchise, as recounted by Siliconera and Hachima Kikou:

  • The official Medarotters fan club will be “renewed.”
  • Imagineer will open a Medarot-specific YouTube channel, which can be found here. It’ll apparently host a new show called Medarot News, showcasing the latest from the developers.
  • A Medarot Game Sound Archives CD set will be sold on the Medarotters website, featuring tracks from the first five entries. Orders will open on November 28, 2018.
  • Kodansha will republished Horumarin’s Medarot and Medarot 2 manga digitally. The individual collected volumes are already up for purchase on Amazon.com for Kindle devices.
  • The MangaHot app, which runs the Weekly Medarot Broadcast, will have a free event.
  • A Medarot-themed pop-up shop will open in Akihabara.
