Medarot: The Koishimaru Collection due out in October

Kodansha is reviving their Medarot manga reissues this fall. The company’s Re:ComicBonBon label has announced the October 23rd release of two new Medarot collections. Centred around Medarot 5 and Medarot G protagonist Koishimaru Tensan, the release aims to compile Horuma Rin’s manga series duo of the name. The new books will retail for 1000 and 1200 yen respectively.

Medarot 5 was originally serialized in the monthly Comic BonBon anthology magazine between the December 2001 and June 2002 issues. Kodansha previously published the series through two individual volumes in July and August 2002. Medarot G ran in Comic BonBon between its August 2002 and July 2003 issues. Kotobukiya announces Arcbeetle model kit

At the company’s summer 2017 Wonder Festival booth, Kotobukiya announced its seventh Medarot model kit, the first new one in years, KBT-04M Arcbeetle. While an unpainted prototype was showcased, pricing details and a release window have yet to be determined.

Kotobukiya’s Medarot line started in 2011 with Gun-Nose. Prior to Arcbeetle, the last kit was 2014’s release of Saikachis. Kotobukiya routinely reissued earlier entries due to fan demand. Read the rest of this entry »

Imagineer confirms it’s developing an unspecified Nintendo Switch title

Imagineer has officially announced its support for the Nintendo Switch. The Japanese game publisher has confirmed they’ve begun development on a title set to launch on the platform sometime after the start of the next fiscal year, which begins April 2018. While the press release highlights the company’s involvement with the Medarot series, it must be stressed that the Switch project wasn’t announced to be a Medarot title. That segment of the announcement also promoted the company’s Kanji Test series, as well as their work on licensed characters, like Rilakumma and Gudetama. The company hopes the unspecified Nintendo Switch title can expand their gaming business, by delivering on the concept of being able to played “by anyone, anytime, and anywhere.” Read the rest of this entry »

Imagineer absorbs Rocket Company

rocketlogoStarting July 1st, 2016, Rocket Company will be no more. The Japanese publisher behind the Medarot games will be merged with its parent company Imagineer. The move is being made as Imagineer plans to transition its business to focus less on packaged software for dedicated gaming devices and more on games for smart phones/tablets. While the company will continue to release games on dedicated platforms, worsening market conditions will see fewer titles launch as they review their business strategy. Medarot RPG developer Delta-Arts has closed

deltaartsJapanese game developer Delta-Arts updated its website to announce that the studio ceased operations at the end of last month. The company’s final known project, Medarot 9, shipped on the Nintendo 3DS last December.
