Second, and third set of Medarot DUAL voice over DLC revealed

Rocket Company already released Hiro Shimono as an alternative battle voice over for Medarot Dual, and has since put out more. On Decemeber 19th, voice packs containing audio from Sumire Uesaka, Yuu Kobayashi, and Maaya Uchida were released. The company followed that up by releasing Aya Endo, and Rie Kugiyama voice packs on January 2nd. The previous two voice actresses are in the retail game, but as they were version exclusive (Endo only in Kabuto, and Kugiyama only in Kuwagata) this DLC is aimed at users looking to hear the alternate version’s voice overs. Each voice pack costs 100 yen.

Medarot at Jump Festa 2014

Shueshia’s Jump Festa 2014 convention occurred over the weekend of December 21st, 2013 in Japan. Rocket Company participated by hosting a two day Medarot DUAL tournament, where fans could win exclusive items. First day winners received a Metabee themed set including a sketch from Horuma Rin, a trophy, a set of AR cards for the game, and an exclusive hoodie with back art from Horuma Rin. Medarot DUAL software update 1.1 is now available

dualpatchRocket Company released a software update for Medarot DUAL on December 18th in Japan. Patch 1.1 fixes a bug that saw a connectivity error after certain battles in the story mode. Additionally, the patch provides support for downloadable content released after December 19th, 2013.

Natsume’s disinterest in recent Medarot games was not due to sales concerns

vlcsnap-2013-06-18-03h18m32s66As I’m sure many of you are aware Project Rising Beetle isn’t just devoted to covering the latest Medarot news from Japan and around the world. The blog was initially started in support of an ongoing localization campaign to try to push for western releases of the games. Over two years later our efforts have yet to bare fruit.

One of the biggest blows to our campaign happened earlier this year when the publisher we were primarily targeting stated that they had “no plans to localize any current Medabots games.” Read the rest of this entry »





The second round of Medarot DUAL DLC contains Ikki, Arika, and more returning characters

Rocket Company weren’t done with just this set of downloadable content for Medarot DUAL as they’ve announced more characters with a release starting on December 5th. Like the first set these characters will be available for players to battle, and make part of their team. However, unlike the first set this content will not have a limited free release. Each character pack will cost 300 yen. Any colour variations specific to this content has not been revealed.

M7 Guests-1 focuses on characters from Medarot 7, specifically Azuma’s friends. Chitose will use Noir Katze. Taruto will attempt to battle foes with Doctor Study (known as Dr. Bokchoy in English releases). Sakura will partner up with Rouge Katze, with Nato using Chrome Tortoise. This character pack goes live on the Nintendo eShop starting December 5th.

Medarot DUAL’s reception

BY2lqyVCMAArGjoMedarot DUAL has been available at Japanese retail since November 14th, which means we can see how the game was received overseas. There was a lot of trepidation from fans coming into Medarot DUAL as previous action based spinoffs have been of poor quality, but developer Jupiter (Spectrobes, Picross, etc.) seems to have delivered. Japan’s most popular gaming magazine Famitsu gave the game a review score of 8/8/8/8 for a total of 32/40 rewarding Medarot DUAL with a Gold award. This is the best review a Medarot game has received from that publication. User reviews from Amazon have the Kabuto version siting at 4 out of 5 stars, while the Kuwagata version is at 3.5 stars.

Garutman, and Right Soutatsu Medarot DUAL gameplay videos

Rocket Company have updated the Medarot section of the Medarot DUAL website for one last time. The final pair of Medarot that the company wants players to see are FJN00_M Garutman, and GAL00_N Right Soutatsu. Both are relative newcomers to the franchise with Garutman having debuted in Medarot 7, and Right Soutatsu being a Medarot DUAL debut.
